March saw a slight decrease in the number of jobs advertised in South Carolina, according to the latest Conference Board’s monthly Help Wanted Online report.

February data show 61,300 jobs advertised, while March had 60,300.

Source: S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce“South Carolina’s economy continues to grow, and businesses continue to add jobs that pay good wages that can support a family,” said Cheryl Stanton, executive director of the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, in a news release.

South Carolina lags slightly below the national average in ads per 100 people in the civilian labor force. March saw 2.6 ads per 100 civilians. The national average is 2.98 ads.

The professional and related jobs industry featuring the most listings, with 19,032 advertised jobs paying an average hourly wage of $29.69. This group is followed by sales and office, with 11,710 jobs paying an average of $15.98 per hour; production and transportation (8,383 and $16.79); service, (7,360 and $11.66); management and business (6,506 and $38.65); and construction and maintenance (6,106 and $19.61).

The February supply/demand rate stood at 1.66 unemployed for each advertised vacancy in South Carolina. The national supply/demand rate for the month was 1.42.
