A development company today removed from its website a proposal for a 300,000-square-foot outlet mall adjacent to SCANA’s corporate campus in Cayce.
Information about the project – Columbia Capital Outlets – at Interstate 77 and 12th Street Extension had been posted on EB Development’s website as of midnight Wednesday. However, today the information had been removed from the website of the Essex, Vt.-based firm.
News of the outlet mall plans being posted on the EB Development’s website was initially reported in this morning’s editions of The State newspaper.
A spokesman for EB Development today said the company had no comment about the website posting or plans to build a retail center in Cayce.
The company touted the proposed mall’s location being about an 11-minute drive from downtown Columbia with easy access to I-77.
The site is part of SCANA’s 260-acre Otarre Pointe Development and is being marketed by the energy provider’s real estate unit. The development is across I-77 from Saxe Gotha Industrial Park, home to Amazon’s 1.25-million-square-foot fulfillment center and Nephron Pharmaceuticals new manufacturing facility.
