Carlstar Group LLC, a manufacturer of specialty wheels and tires, has announced plans to invest $6.9 million in its existing facility in Aiken County and add 43 jobs.
The investment will expand process and production capacity, the Franklin, Tenn.-based company said in a press release. The company makes original equipment and aftermarket specialty tires and wheels for the agriculture, construction, lawn and garden, ATV/UTV and high-speed trailer markets.
“Our Aiken, S.C., facility is part of the strategic, long-term growth for our company,” said Carlstar CEO John Salvatore. “This investment in people, processes and production will not only help strengthen our ability to provide value for our customers, but also strengthen and grow our ties to the Aiken County community."
Located at 23 Windham Boulevard in Aiken, Carlstar’s facility will undergo significant site improvements, including investments in capacity and equipment, the company said.
"We know expansions within corporations are extremely competitive, and we see this as a validation of Aiken County's hard work, and partnerships with our existing industries, like Carlstar,” Ronnie Young, chairman of the Aiken County Council, said in a statement. “We are grateful for them and the jobs they provide for our citizens."
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $100,000 Set Aside grant to Aiken County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building improvements.
Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2017. For more information, visit the company's online interactive jobs portal.
