Stephen Gamble Historic Floors and Finishes, a wood flooring manufacturer headquartered in Greenwich, Conn., announced Tuesday plans to expand operations to Aiken County.
The project is expected to bring $2.5 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of 24 jobs, according a release from the S.C. Department of Commerce.
“What a privilege it is to do business with such a friendly state and give opportunity to such wonderful people,” company owner Stephen Gamble said in announcing the project.
Founded as Stephen Gamble Woodworks in 1977, the privately held company will locate its South Carolina operation at 267 Moore Road in Aiken. The company plans to convert several existing structures into production space and expects to be operational by January, the release said.
“The repurposing of an existing facility in the eastern section of the county underscores that Aiken County is a great place to build a company’s future,” said Aiken County Council Chairman Ronnie Young. “We are grateful for this, and we look forward to a long partnership with them.”
Hiring for the new positions will begin later this year, the Commerce Department said.
