Broad River Retail, one of the largest and fastest-growing independently owned and operated Ashley Store licensees, is developing its 32nd Ashley Store, this one in Rock Hill.

“Rock Hill and York County present a promising market for us, and Broad River Retail is thrilled to introduce Ashley to this community,” said Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail president and CEO, in the release. “We are bringing the number one selling furniture store brand closer to many customers from this area who travel to our North Carolina locations. This store is our first in the South Carolina submarket of the greater Charlotte metro region, and we are eager to service the thriving Rock Hill community.”

The 35,540-square-foot showroom will showcase Ashley’s 7.0 store concept, featuring a contemporary open floor plan, an enhanced sleep gallery and stylish interior design elements, the release stated. Located adjacent to Interstate 77, on the eastern side of downtown Rock Hill, the Ashley Store will occupy a prime space, and the building was once a part of the Sears location and is close to the Belk at the Galleria Mall on Dave Lyle Boulevard.

“Broad River is excited to contribute to the vibrant retail landscape and elevate the shopping experience of Rock Hill and the Galleria Mall,” said Manny Rodrigues, Broad River Retail chief operating officer. “The retail corridor on Dave Lyle Boulevard continues to evolve and presents an incredible opportunity for our growth. We look forward to offering a variety of quality home furnishings and sleep products to this market at exceptional values as well as providing the best customer service in the industry.”

With over $1 million in upgrades to the building’s interior and parking lot, Broad River Retail worked alongside the Warren Norman Co., which currently manages the Galleria Mall. Broad River Retail will employ 15 Memory Makers at the store.

“Warren Norman Company is very excited about the addition of Ashley to the Galleria Mall in Rock Hill,” Warren Norman, broker-in-charge, said in the release. “Furniture is a great addition to the tenant mix, and we think will add great synergy to the mall. We have enjoyed working with Ashley and Broad River Retail and can’t wait for them to be a part of the Rock Hill community.”

Headquartered in nearby Fort Mill, Broad River Retail also owns and operates nine current Ashley stores and outlets in Charlotte metro and seven existing Ashley stores and outlets throughout South Carolina. BRR also operates distribution centers in Fort Mill and Spartanburg.

Broad River Retail intends to open the store late in the summer of 2024. An official grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration will follow shortly after the initial opening.
