Benedict College is cutting its tutition by nearly $6,000 starting this fall.

The average cost for a boarding student will drop from $28,630 to $22,800 a year, according to a news release.

“We acknowledge that numerous families are challenged with the rising cost of tuition, and we want to make a Benedict education both accessible and affordable for our students,” Benedict president Roslyn Artis said in a statement.

Non-boarding students will pay $16,600 a year, saving nearly $3,400. The new tuition price will include book fees and apply to both new and current students. The lower cost will also apply to both in-state and out-of-state students.

“The marketplace has spoken, and we are listening,” Artis said. “We want to ensure the best and brightest students have access to higher education.”

The college will continue to offer academic- and performance-based scholarships and financial aid packages for qualifying students.
