Comet to hold two public listening sessions
The sessions are soliciting public input on plans and recommendations for Midlands transit system improvements. The first of two meetings this week will take place Tuesday.
Park for free on Thanksgiving
Free parking will be available city-wide on Thanksgiving and in most sections of Columbia on Friday. On-street metered parking will be free on Friday and Saturday except in Five Points.

Utilities are being installed at the intersection, with construction slated to continue until Nov. 16. On Wednesday, residents and business owners can attend a follow-up meeting regarding proposed lane reductions on Calhoun Street.

Mayor Steve Benjamin cycled a portion of the Vista Greenway to kick off the program, sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield and operated in conjunction with Canada-based bike share company Bewegen.

The bike share program, Blue Bike, is sponsored by BlueCross Blue Shield of South Carolina and powered by Canada-based bike share company Bewegen. The program will put 135 bikes at 15 rental stations throughout the city.
Storm drain upgrades to affect Bull Street traffic
A project to upgrade storm drain infrastructure in the Cottontown area will cause traffic shifts beginning today. The shifts may cause delays in the inbound lanes of Bull Street near the intersection of Victoria and Franklin streets.
Farrow Road bike lanes to be removed
The change is part of a lane reversal that will return a section of the road from Columbia College Drive to E. Campanella Drive to its previous 4-lane configuration. The city said the move comes in response to feedback from the public.
Bike project along Farrow Road placed on hold
The city of Columbia has asked for area bike lanes to be temporarily closed in both directions while the Farrow Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project is evaluated.
New traffic pattern to begin Saturday in Lexington
The S.C. 6 One-Way Pair Project will split northbound and southbound traffic at North Lake Drive and Church Street in an effort to make the intersection of Main Street at North Lake Drive more efficient.

Lancaster County joins I-77 Alliance
The county becomes the fifth addition to the public-private partnership which promotes business and industrial opportunities in the corridor from Columbia to Charlotte. Lancaster joins York, Chester, Fairfield and Richland counties.
