City of Columbia accepting scholarship nominations

The city of Columbia is accepting nominations for the 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Keeper scholarship awards, which recognize commitment to King’s tenets of social responsibility, political empowerment, diversity, racial harmony, nonviolence, and service.

Nominees must be 18 or younger and enrolled in elementary, middle or high school with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Winners will have voluntarily demonstrated commitment to King’s ideals in support of their community and its citizens.

Applications are available online at https://www.columbiasc.gov/parks-recreation or at the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, located at 1111 Recreation Drive. Applications may be submitted in PDF form to parksinfo@columbiasc.gov or mailed to Kevin Crawford II,  1111 Recreation Drive, Columbia, S.C., 29201.

Applications must be postmarked by Dec 11.
