“People with disabilities are people first, “ said Mike Teachey, executive director of the Barbara Stone Foundation. “When we define a person by their disability, we create barriers rooted in false assumptions and outdated stereotypes. CAN Talks will be an enlightening evening that will broaden your perspective about individuals with disabilities and challenge the status quo.
Since 1991, the Barbara Stone Foundation has been a champion and fierce advocate for individuals with disabilities who face unnecessary barriers and often struggle to be seen, heard, valued, and included.

In 2013, the Barbara Stone Foundation provided the first grant to Greenville CAN (Collaborative Action Network), which is a network of self-advocates, service providers, families, caregivers and professionals working to reduce barriers to employment, increasing recreational opportunities and improving accessibility for individuals with disabilities. ‘CAN Talks is a special public event designed to spotlight how individuals living with disabilities flourish and further supports the stated mission of Greenville CAN.
