Downtown Columbia eatery adds brunch menu, plans grand opening

A popular upscale tapas and dessert spot in downtown Columbia recently added brunch to its offerings and is preparing for a grand opening celebration later this week.

The Robinson Room at 1614 Main Street unveiled its new brunch menu on Saturday, Aug. 5. Brunch will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays and offerings will include a biscuit board, waffle board, a donut sausage sandwich, sticky bun skillet, smothered chicken biscuit, shrimp and grits and more.

Earlier this summer, Robinson Room moved to 1614 Main, the former location of the Good Life Café, which moved into newly renovated space at 1218 Taylor St.

The Robinson Room’s first location was in a speakeasy setting below The Grand on Main Street, which it eventually outgrew because of the popularity of its offerings. The new location features colorful textured wallpaper, plush furniture and chandeliers.

The eatery has been open at its new location for a while, working on new menu items and adapting to the new setting. The Robinson Room will hold the “Gatsby Gala,” a grand opening for the new location, from 7 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10. Guests can enjoy food and drink against a 1920s backdrop including jazz music. More information about the event is available online.

The Robinson Room is open 4 p.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 19 p.m. Sunday.
