The Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement is hosting a job fair Feb. 28 in Columbia to help the state’s public school districts find candidates to fill anticipated teacher position vacancies.

The South Carolina Teacher Expo will be held at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. People searching for teaching jobs can discuss opportunities with representatives from school districts throughout the state. Many districts have teaching vacancies in subject areas such as math, science and special education, according to a new release from CERRA.

The CERRA Supply and Demand Report released in December 2019 found that more than 6,650 S.C. teachers did not return to a teaching job in the same district after the 2018-19 school year.

Teachers, recent graduates of teacher education programs, and people who have met admission criteria for an approved alternative certification program in the state can attend the expo. The cost is $10, and  registration is recommended.

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Participants can meet with district representatives from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and interviews will be conducted from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
