Amazon fulfillment contractor to begin operations in Sumter with 1st South Carolina facility

Utopia Fulfillment Inc. has announced plans to establish its first South Carolina operations in Sumter County.

The Sumter facility will be located at 31 Plowden Mill Road, with an expected launch date at the end of April, according to a news release.

Utopia Fulfillment Inc., a warehousing and fulfillment services provider, is one of the top Amazon sellers for home textiles and kitchen items in the U.S., the release stated. Utopia launched operations in 2017 and has 8,000-plus employees around the world, with more than 100 located at their Pennsylvania and New Jersey sites.

“We at Utopia Fulfillment are delighted to announce our new operation in Sumter, SC. The decision to choose Sumter as the location for our warehouse facility was driven by the city’s strategic advantages, including its central location, excellent transportation infrastructure, and business-friendly environment,” Utopia General Manager of Global Logistics Haris Khan said in the release. “We are excited to be part of the vibrant Sumter community and look forward to building strong partnerships and contributing to the local economy.”

The new Sumter location will serve as a reverse logistics facility and accommodate warehousing needs and is expected to create six new jobs. Anyone interesting in applying for warehousing positions can email hrglobal@utopiafulfillment.com.

“A logistics operation such as Utopia Fulfillment is a great addition to our industrial portfolio,” Sumter Development Board Chairman Greg A. Thompson said in the release. “We work diligently to ensure we have a skilled workforce ready to respond to the needs of our partners and look forward to providing the necessary talent for your existing and future operations.”
