Grinding of the Greens accepting trees until Jan. 10

Listen to this articleKeep the Midlands Beautiful is accepting undecorated, real trees until Jan. 10 in its annual Grinding of the Greens event in dozens of locations in Richland and Lexington counties.
Residents are reminded to remove trees from stands and to remove all decorations. No wreaths or other greenery will be accepted.
Free mulch from the recycled trees will be available to the public on Jan. 12 from 8:30 a.m. until the mulch is gone at two locations: Seven Oaks Park at 200 Leisure Lane in Columbia and the South Carolina State Farmers Market at 3483 Charleston Highway in West Columbia.
