When you hear about apprenticeships, what comes to mind? Do you think about manufacturing jobs or skilled trades?

You’re right about apprenticeships being offered in those fields, but in South Carolina, apprenticeships are much, much more. Apprenticeship Carolina, a program of the S.C. Technical College System, can help many businesses set up registered apprenticeships to fill their talent pipeline. In addition to manufacturing, apprenticeships are available to information technology, health care, professional services, energy, construction and tourism and hospitality.

If you’d like to learn more, be sure to attend the 2018 Apprenticeship Accelerator Breakfast on Thursday, May 24. The breakfast, from 7:15 to 9 a.m., will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton at 2100 Bush River Road.

Registration is free.

Amanda Lucas, Midlands apprenticeship consultant, Apprenticeship Carolina, will talk about the apprenticeship development process. An industry/education panel will include Brooks Burnside, training and development manager, Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp., and Jeremy Catoe, business solutions director, Corporate and Continuing Education, Midlands Technical College. Carla Whitlock, senior apprenticeship consultant, Apprenticeship Carolina, will moderate the panel, and additional panelists will be announced.

The breakfast is presented by Apprenticeship Carolina and organized by SC Biz News, publisher of the Columbia Regional Business Report, Charleston Regional Business Journal, GSA Business Report and SCBIZ magazine.
