Lexington Medical Center Begins Partners Program 2023

West Columbia, S.C. – Lexington Medical Center’s Partners Program is underway for the summer of 2023. This summer internship is designed for high school students in Lexington and Richland Counties who are interested in careers in health care. Thanks to funding from the Lexington Medical Center Foundation, the Partners Program has been part of the hospital for more than 20 years.

This summer, 70 participants will observe the day-to-day operations of the hospital through clinical rotations, interactive workshops and field trips. Rotations include a variety of clinical areas such as imaging services, physical therapy, orthopaedics, nursing, the emergency department and more. They will also visit the University of South Carolina to observe the College of Nursing’s Simulation Lab and the USC School of Medicine’s Ultrasound Institute.

“Lexington Medical Center hopes the Partners Program inspires students to be passionate about careers in health care,” said Marquita Gaines, workforce coordinator. “One day when they finish their education, maybe they can return to Lexington Medical Center to take care of people in the Midlands for generations to come.”

Session One is June 12 – 30. Session 2 is July 10 – 28. Participating seniors will be eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship during the program.
