Make-A-Wish® South Carolina is pleased to announce that Mary Delaney is joining the staff of the chapter as its new Major Gift Officer for the Coastal Regions. In her role, Delaney will support the organization’s mission, vision and growth. She will play a key role in cultivating donor relationships that move the strategic plan of the chapter forward.
“We are very excited to have Mary Delaney join the Make-A-Wish South Carolina team.

Mary’s excellent track record with leading nonprofit development efforts makes her an ideal fit for the important work we are doing for children across our state. I’m confident her many talents and her passion for transforming lives through wish granting will produce outstanding results for our chapter and the families we serve.” stated Misty Farmer, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish South Carolina.

Since moving to Charleston in 2018, Delaney has served most recently as the Major Gifts Director for Roper St. Francis and prior to that as the Associate Director of Development for MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, leading donor engagement and major gift fundraising efforts for both organizations.

Previously, Delaney served as Senior Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships for Children’s National Health System in the Metro Washington D.C. area.

Speaking of her new assignment Delaney said, “I am truly honored to be joining the Make-A-Wish South Carolina team. Having spent most of my development career in pediatric healthcare, I know firsthand, the immeasurable power of a child’s wish come true. To now be in a position to help create those moments of magic for children and their families in South Carolina is a dream come true for me. I look forward to growing our reach and impact through the coastal region and beyond!”

Throughout her career, Delaney has developed exceptional skills of building relationships and collaborating with partners. She has been very active with the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, most recently serving as a member of the Leadership Charleston Class of 2022.

Amanda Osborne, Vice President of Mission Advancement for Make-A-Wish South Carolina remarked of Delaney’s appointment, “Our chapter is lucky to gain someone of Mary’s caliber as a staff member. She brings a remarkable ability to deepen relationships with key donors in our state, and particularly in the coastal regions, that will help us create meaningful relationships beyond transactional interactions. Her work will directly impact the long-term sustainability of our chapter’s mission.”

Mary Delaney graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology/Physiology from the University of Maryland. She resides in Charleston with her husband, Drew, and three children, Anderson, Teddy and Libby.

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. The chapter receives funding through private donations, individuals, companies, and special events.
