New taco restaurant coming to Devine Street in Columbia

A national taco chain will soon have a second location in the Columbia area.

Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey will be coming to 4420 Devine St. in Columbia. Colliers South Carolina’s Rox Pollard Jr., John Gressette and Rox Pollard III recently represented the chain in the lease of a 3,687-square-foot restaurant space in the popular Columbia neighborhood.

“We are excited for our clients, Rich and Tina Kotlarek, to have their second Barrio Tacos location in South Carolina,” Gressette said in a news release. “This high-profile location will offer the brand excellent visibility and exposure to the Columbia market and provide an exciting atmosphere for customers to enjoy the experience of visiting Barrio Tacos.”

The Kotlareks have the Barrio franchise rights in central South Carolina. This will be their second location. In February, they leased a 2,837-square-foot space on West Main Street in Lexington for their first Barrio Tacos. Opening dates for the two locations have not been announced.

With more than 20 locations in the U.S., Barrio Tacos features a casual atmosphere and offers a wide variety of tequila, whiskey, beer and custom-designed tacos. The chain was founded in Tremont, Ohio in 2012.

“Barrio, which means neighborhood, is the perfect concept for this redeveloped, quintessential neighborhood property,” said Jim Pagett, owner of 4420 Devine St. “I have always wanted our community to enjoy and love this real estate as much as I do, and Barrio Tacos will provide a festive and delicious platform for us all to come together to eat, drink and celebrate life.”

Pollard Jr. is a vice president and director of retail services at Colliers in Columbia and specializes in the sale, leasing and development consultation of retail properties statewide. Gressette is a brokerage associate working on properties of all sizes. Pollard III is a brokerage associate specializing in leasing and selling retail properties and commercial development sites.
