Israel-based Aran Packaging will open its first United States operation in Greer, according to the company.

Aran will invest $5.2 million in an existing building located at 1704 Poplar Drive in Greer and add 63 new jobs over the next five years. The facility is located off Interstate 85 near the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.

Aran was established in 1983 and offers advanced packaging solutions “using aseptic and bag-in-box technologies for both the food and nonfood industries.” According to its website, the company offers bag-in-box products for wine and water, along with packaging for dairy, edible oils, sauces and condiments, and fruits and vegetables.

The company operates its headquarters and production facility in Israel and a production facility in Valladolid, Spain. According to Aran, it employs 180 workers worldwide.

“Because of its geographic location, an excellent business atmosphere and superb workforce, we believe that South Carolina is the ideal spot for us to open our first U.S. facility,” said Aran CEO Lior Mor.

The facility is expected to be fully operational by July 2016, with hiring to start in February.

“We are happy to build on our international ties to welcome a well respected and forward-thinking company like Aran to the Upstate and look forward to the significant impact they will make in creating jobs and driving economic growth,” said Greenville Area Development Corp. member and Greenville County Council Chairman Bob Taylor.
