Bermuda-based Enstar Group has leased about 24,000 square feet of office space in Northeast Columbia.

The company, which in January closed on the $218 million acquisition of Companion Property & Casualty, did not disclose its plans for the additional space located at 221 Dawson Road.

Enstar is a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ stock market, established to acquire and manage insurance and reinsurance companies in run-off. Enstar also provides management, consulting and other services to the insurance and reinsurance industry.

When it acquired Companion – now known as Sussex Insurance Company – from BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Enstar said it planned to operate the business largely as part of its property and casualty legacy business, while working to ensure that Companion's policyholders continue to receive service.

Sussex is located in an office park near I-20 and Clemson Road.

Enstar is the largest single run-off company in the world with, in the aggregate, a multi-billion U.S. dollar portfolio of insurance and reinsurance assets under management and substantial operations in Bermuda, Europe, United States and Australia.

NAI Avant senior broker Macon Lovelace, with assistance from Cushman and Wakefield brokers John Gray, John Tison and Ed Kercher, facilitated the lease.
