The event, put on by the South Carolina Community Capital Alliance in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27. Two pre-conference sessions are on tap for Monday, which include a tour of Columbia’s community development efforts and a training session on becoming a state-certified CDFI.
The conference is targeting individuals and organizations in the local economic development industry. That includes development finance entities, financial institutions, foundations, funders, state and local government, economic development organizations about policy makers.
Conference sessions will highlight community development organizations that provided assistance after Hurricane Katrina and Super Storm Sandy, offering first-hand experience to prepare South Carolina in its own redevelopment efforts, a release said. From these discussions, attendees will begin developing innovations in creating capital to support South Carolina's local economy and help rebuild those communities impacted by the storm.
