Manufacturer AS/R Systems Inc. is moving its Illinois operations to Ridgeland, where its affiliate Robertson Partnership is constructing a 40,000-square-foot facility at the Cypress Ridge Industrial Park.
The Hilton Head Island-based company, which specializes in customized and rebuilt carousels for industrial applications, will invest $2.5 million in relocating to its new Lowcountry operations. The move will create 11 jobs, Gov. Nikki Haley said in an announcement from the S.C. Commerce Department.
“We chose Jasper County for the relocation of our Illinois operation because the location offers excellent access to markets via I-95 and the Ports of Savannah and Charleston,” owner Doug Robertson said. “In addition, Gov. Haley, Jasper County Council and the economic development team have provided a business-friendly community in which our company can grow.”
Founded in 1991, AS/R Systems Inc. works in technology transfer in the field of goods-to-person technology, which is essential to manufacturing and distribution enterprises. Its customized vertical and horizontal carousels provide space and labor improvements for a variety of manufacturing distribution firms in the United States and Canada.
“Thanks to our world-class workforce, pro-business environment and significant investment from firms such as AS/R Systems, Inc., South Carolina continues to lead the way when comes to manufacturing,” Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said. “I offer my congratulations to AS/R Systems and look forward to watching them succeed in our state for many years to come.”
