TMC Transportation, an employee-owned logistics company, has acquired a 34-acre site in Shop Grove Commerce Park in southeast Columbia.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based trucking firm paid $1,125,000 for the site, according to CBRE, which represented the seller in the transaction.

TMC purchased the property to accommodate the future growth of its Midlands’ operations, CBRE said. TMC also has locations in Gaston and West Columbia in Lexington County.

About 50 acres in the industrial park, located on Shop Road and near the intersection of Atlas Road, remain available for development.

“The Midlands, especially areas proximate to Interstates 26 and 77, is attracting businesses with strong logistics connections,” said Ben Brantley, vice president of CBRE. “The transaction echoes the confidence in the long term growth trajectory for the industrial corridor that connects the port of Charleston to markets across the Southeast.”

Brantley represented the seller, LDE LLC, in the transaction.
