The board of City Center Partnership has appointed new officers for 2016.

New officers include Tripp Whitener of First Citizens Bank, chairman; Lee Mashburn of Mashburn Construction, vice chairman; Ben Arnold of Arnold Companies, treasurer; and Charlie Nutt of Free Times, secretary.

The new officers will help oversee the organization's mission of filling vacancies in commercial properties, retaining existing downtown businesses and recruiting new ones, and expanding the downtown residential base while providing security, maintenance, and marketing to create a safe, clean, and friendly downtown environment.

In addition, awards were presented to Andy Smith of the Nickelodeon Theatre and Arnold in recognition of their efforts in transforming downtown. Also honored were yellow shirt ambassadors Patrice Gomillion and Michael Stratford.

City Center Partnership is a non-profit organization that manages South Carolina’s only managed Business Improvement District in the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly, and Marion streets in downtown Columbia.
