Greg Lapointe has been named president of Columbia-headquartered South State Bank. Current president and CEO John Windley will retire in March 2019.
Lapointe, 55, has been in banking for 33 years, serving in leadership positions for Wells Fargo, Bank of America and South State.
Windley, 65, will continue in an executive business development role until 2020.
Chief credit officer Joseph Burns, 63, will retire in September 2019 after 42 years in banking, including more than 17 with South State.
“South State has tremendous talent and leadership throughout our company, and this transition continues to position us for additional growth,” South State Corp. CEO Robert R. Hill Jr. said in a news release. “We are fortunate to have had leaders like John and Joe as an integral part of our company's expansion over the past two decades, and we are excited for them as they enter retirement.”
In other leadership changes:
John Pollok will continue as South State’s CFO. Donald Truslow will serve as executive vice president with responsibilities including risk management and legal and capital markets. Executive vice president James Mabry’s responsibilities include investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate communications and wealth management.
