The CEO and the founder of Palmetto Infusion, a Columbia-headquartered ambulatory infusion company with 22 clinics throughout the Southeast, have been named winners of global professional services network Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards in the Southeast region.

Gary Cooper, founder of Palmetto Infusion, and CEO David Goodall were among 12 honorees chosen from more than 30 finalists, according to a news release. The company has more than 300 employees serving more than 8,000 patients, according to the release.

“Strong and effective leaders are able to remove fear from chaotic situations. I’m proud of the way that David, myself, and the rest of the leadership team were able to comfort, encourage, and inspire our employees during the COVID-19 crisis,” Cooper said. “Over the last couple of years, we’ve appointed some amazing individuals to different leadership posts in the company, and this spring, we watched them truly shine.”

Award nominees are based on criteria including overcoming adversity, financial performance, societal impact, innovation, and talent management. Since its launch in 1986, the program has recognized business leaders in more than 145 cities and 60 countries.

Regional award winners move on to competition for national Entrepreneur of the Year awards, to be announced Nov. 19. Those winners will then compete for the title of World Entrepreneur of the Year, to be announced in June 2021.

Palmetto Infusion, founded in 1999, has clinics and in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia that provide treatment for patients living with chronic and acute diseases. The company also has a home infusion business.

“I’ve always been inspired by people who show great bravery in the face of adversity. Our patients and our staff are the very best example of this ability, and I’ve had the opportunity to witness it each and every day,” Goodall said. “I lead with this example in mind, encouraging our team to be resilient–no matter the challenge at hand.”
