Southeastern Freight Lines recognized as top S.C. employer

Southeastern Freight Lines, headquartered in Lexington, has been named the best employer in South Carolina by personal finance website GOBankingRates.

The site used data from market research company Statista, media branding and technology company Forbes, and job posting and company review website Glassdoor to compile information, including number of employees and how current and former workers view employers.

Southeastern Freight Lines, founded in 1950 in what in now its Columbia service center with eight employees, has grown to 89 nationwide service centers in 13 states, Canada and Puerto Rico. The company would be recommended by 81% of an unspecified number of respondents to a friend, the rankings found.

“We are honored to receive this acknowledgment from GOBankingRates, compiled based off feedback from our current and past employees,” Richard Slater, Southeastern vice president of field sales, said in a news release. “It is the culmination of the over 8,500 people who work at Southeastern who represent our values, our brand, and our commitment to serving with excellence in all that we do. We understand that in order to create this culture and standard of excellence across our organization, we must be invested in the well-being of each of those individuals, and this award is a testament that this commitment is real.”

In addition to its corporate office in Lexington, Southeastern has regional service centers in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, Florence and Augusta, Ga., which employ more than 1,100 workers.
