The South Carolina Research Authority recently announced two new member companies and grant recipients.

Heroic Health and UGC Holdings were accepted as SCRA member companies, and Algistor and MacB IT Solutions received grant funding, according to a news release.

All SCRA member companies receive coaching, access to experts in SCRA’s Resource Partner Network, eligibility to apply for grant funding, and the potential to be considered for investment from SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc.

Columbia-based life science company Algistor Inc. received a $50,000 demonstration grant. The company manufactures sterile algae by developing, farming and separating oleic fatty oils from the microalgae chlorella vulgaris.

Charleston-based Heroic Health LLC is one of the new member companies. The IT firm has developed an end-to-end healthcare behavior change platform that uses cognitive neuroscience and gaming to people on their own “healthcare journeys,” according to a company description.

MacB IIT Solutions, based in Piedmont, received a $25,000 project development fund grant. The IT company offers technology services for businesses including website development, e-commerce solutions, customized app development and telecom solutions to reduce abandoned calls and improve customer service.

UGC Holdings Inc. out of Charleston was accepted as an SCRA member. The IT company offers a workplace giving and volunteering platform built to help develop generosity in companies by engaging employees to help causes they care about the most.
