Officials from the county and the Richland County Transportation Penny Program will be on hand twice next week to discuss the widenings, which are slated for Clemson and Atlas roads.
Those interested in hearing about the Clemson project are encouraged to attend the session scheduled for Sept. 28 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the W.R. Rogers Adult Education Center. The event will include informational displays, and the staff will present the project for review and to receive residents’ comments.
The project would widen the portion of the road between Old Clemson Road and Sparkleberry Crossing to a five-lane highway with four travel lanes and a center lane for left turns.
The Atlas Road project will be discussed Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the A.C. Jackson Wellness Center. The same format will apply to the session.
The public comment period for both projects end on Oct. 13 and Oct. 16, respectively. Written comments can be submitted to Richland Penny Program addressed to P.O. Box 3427, Columbia, S.C., 29230. Comments can also be emailed to email@example.com or faxed to (803) 779-4562.
Atlas Road connects Bluff and Shop roads in Southeast Columbia, beyond Interstate 77.
