A supplier outreach event for the Giti Tire plant project in Chester County will be held Wednesday in Richburg.

The event, targeting non-construction suppliers, will provide attendees with information regarding typical sourcing areas for a tire plant, as well as an overview of the Giti's vendor registration process and its commitment to diversity, officials said.

"When a company decides to do business in the Palmetto State, we make a commitment to support them and encourage their success,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said. “Events like this supplier outreach event are a terrific example of that and a testament to the dedication of Team South Carolina."

Giti Tire announced in June 2014 it is establishing a $560 million manufacturing facility, which is expected to create approximately 1,700 new jobs in Chester County. In July 2015, the company, along with general contracting firm Shimizu North America LLC, participated in a construction subcontractor outreach event aimed at providing potential subcontractors with project details, as well as information on the bid process.

Work has started on the site, located between S.C. Highway 9 and Old Richburg Road. The new plant will be on the Carolinas I-77 Mega Site and will combine manufacturing and distribution activities.

Wednesday’s event will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Gateway Conference Center at 3200 Commerce Drive. No RSVP is required to attend the event. For additional information, contact Karlisa Parker at 803-377-1216.

The event is hosted by the S.C. Department of Commerce and Chester County Economic Development.
