The historic Parker Annex building on the former S.C. State Hospital grounds in Columbia has been sold to an undisclosed buyer.
NAI Avant announced today that the buyer plans to renovate the 9,300-square-foot building, occupy the second floor and lease the ground floor. A purchase price was not announced.
According to City of Columbia records, the building was constructed in 1919 and is located southeast of the iconic Babcock Building.
Originally built to support additional patients from the Parker Building, which was demolished in 1980, the Annex housed male African-American patients.
NAI Avant senior broker Cam Kreps facilitated the sale. The building is part of the redevelopment called 165-acre BullStreet Common. The development will include Spirit Communications Park, which is under construction, along with restaurants, shops, housing, and office space.
