Great Southern Homes Inc. has acquired about 38 acres of land near Chapin for a new housing development.

The builder paid $548,243 for the property at 428 Hiller Road, according to the commercial real estate firm NAI Avant.

Plans for the new development, which will be named Hidden Cove, call for 70 single-family lots, two estate-size lots and one lake lot.

The first phase will be available in the summer.

Based in Irmo, Great Southern has built about 3,800 homes in three decades.

NAI Avant senior brokers Tombo and Tom Milliken represented the seller in the transaction.
