A Historic Preservation Grant awarded by the Richland County Conservation Commission has allowed Ebenezer Lutheran Chapel to replace two cupolas, or small domes.

The small domes - which sit on a drum on top of a larger dome - adorned the roof of the chapel at 1301 Richland St. until they were destroyed in a storm. After learning of the damaged cupolas, a group of parishioners applied for funding through the grant.

The two hand-crafted cupolas were lifted by a large crane and situated onto towers that flank the historical chapel's main entrance.

Historic Preservation Grants are awarded by the Conservation Commission to local applicants whose projects feature a building or site that has been determined to be historically significant, as well as meets other specific criteria.
