The Watercrest Senior Living Group announced today the development of an assisted living and memory care community in Columbia.
The 92,000 square-foot community will feature 107 units (75 assisted living and 32 memory care residences), according to a press release. There will be two buildings, a one-story and a three-story. The developer expects to break ground in November.
The new community is designed by LifeBUILT Architecture, and construction was awarded to Shiel Sexton Co. in Charlotte.
Watercrest Columbia Assisted Living and Memory Care will be built adjacent to the intersection of Clemson and Hardscrabble roads in Northeast Columbia.
Watercrest Senior Living Group, of Vero Beach, Fla., will serve as developer, construction manager and operator of the project. Upon completion, Watercrest Columbia will include a promenade, pool, fireplace, signature water wall, multiple dining venues, children’s play space, and a Market Street “outdoor” streetscape with salon and spa, barber shop, post office, and newsstand.
“Shiel Sexton Co. operates on the ideals to build for people who expect more, which greatly aligns with our Watercrest mission to elevate the standards of design, amenities and care we provide for our seniors, families, caregivers and associates,” said Marc Vorkapich, principal and CEO of Watercrest Senior Living Group. “We look forward to our partnership and the opportunity to provide the residents of Columbia a refreshing alternative to traditional senior living.”
Watercrest Columbia plans will be available the week of Sept. 11.
