After two years, marketing communication firm Chernoff Newman will be dropping the Carolina PR name from its brand identity. The two firms merged in 2014.

"Chernoff Newman had been using the hybrid name Carolina PR/Chernoff Newman to build off Carolina PR's strong reputation in the region and the Carolinas," said David Campbell, president and COO of the firm.

Carolina PR was founded in 1983. Sig Huitt is the founding partner of Carolina PR, continues with the firm as a senior counselor.

"You do not throw away more than three decades of great brand equity," Campbell said. "Keeping 'Carolina PR' gave our newly combined firm a solid footing to operate from in Charlotte. That phase has been completed as our agency services and cultures are now fully integrated."

Chernoff Newman was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Columbia. It also has offices in Charleston, Charlotte, and Orlando, Fla.
