Making it Grow, South Carolina Educational Television’s weekly interactive gardening program, received two Telly awards this week.

The awards, in their 40th year, showcase the best television and video work across all 50 states and five continents. More than 12,000 entries were received from TV stations, production companies, publishers and advertising agencies, according to a news release from SCETV.

Making it Grow’s prescribed burn segment received a bronze award in the education category, while its holiday special received a bronze award in the information category.

“For more than 25 years, Making it Grow has been a staple for SCETV and a tremendous resource for the people of this state,” SCETV president and CEO Anthony Padgett said in the release. “Knowing all the hard work that goes into producing a weekly, interactive show, I’m elated that Making it Grow is getting the recognition that it so rightfully deserves.”

The show, which debuted in 1993, is a live call-in program produced by SCETV and Clemson University and hosted by Amanda McNulty. It includes Clemson Extension agents as well as John Nelson from the University of South Carolina’s A.C. Moore Herbarium.

“It’s rewarding when we partner with agents and others in bringing knowledge and entertainment to our viewers, and it’s especially rewarding that they are recognized for their background and innovation,” McNulty said.
