Thanks to websites like Etsy and Pinterest, people are turning handmade creations into cash. The Richland Library is offering creative entrepreneurship classes to teach people how to profit from their creative talents.

The classes will be taught by nationally recognized entrepreneurs in various genres, according to a news release from the library. Instructors include FatRat Da Czar, music; Shennice Cleckly, culinary; Sherard Duvall, filmmaking; Sara Kennedy, coding  and Melissa Giglio, jewelry making.

The classes begin in August and continue until April 2020. Applications are due Aug. 18.

Selected students will complete the program reflective of their interest and receive training on general business topics through courses including Business 101, design thinking and financial management.

“The path to becoming an entrepreneur is often met with significant risk and capital,” Georgia Coleman, Richland Library chief customer officer, said in the release. “We are excited to support emerging businesses so they can reach their full potential.”

The program is funded by the Richland Library Friends and Foundation Learning Centers Campaign.
