The Be Pro Be Proud mobile workshop is raising $2 million in private funds pledged toward the workforce development project and is recruiting 100 companies to pledge $15,000 or more by July 1.

The Be Pro 100 will have logos displayed on the custom-made, 53-foot 18-wheeler featuring virtual reality simulations involving construction, electrical and utility work, welding, heavy equipment operating and truck driving, among other skilled professions. Sponsors will also be invited to attend the August launch of the project, hosted by S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster.

Additional recognition will be based on contribution amounts, according to a news release from the S.C. Chamber of Commerce. All contributions are tax deductible.

The Be Pro Be Proud workshop, modeled on an Arkansas program, will bring the tractor-trailer to middle and high school students across the state in an effort to raise awareness about opportunities in and benefits of skilled professions, many of which do not require a four-year degree.

More information is available online or by calling 803-799-4306.
