The second annual Indie Grits Labs Education Fundraiser will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, at The War Mouth restaurant at 1209 Franklin St.
Funds raised will support Indie Grits Labs and the Helen Hill Media Education Center, which provides media literacy labs, after-school programs and film camps for local students led by community educators and artists.
“In these first few months of this fiscal year, we have already worked with more than 700 students, which is more than the total number last year,” Indie Grits Labs director Seth Gadsden said in a news release. “It is encouraging to see the significant impact Indie Grits Labs is making in Columbia, and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of our donors.”
The popular Indie Grits independent film showcase spawned Indie Grits Labs, created by the Columbia Film Society to bring the festival, along with the creation of new media artwork and media education, under the same umbrella.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $40 and available by clicking here. The event, which begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., will feature complimentary food, beer and wine, as well as a silent auction.
