Parents have an opportunity to win a $529 contribution to a Future Scholar 529 savings account in a new contest announced by S.C. Treasurer Curtis Loftis.

Two winners will be selected in the privately funded Future Scholar Diaper Dash Sweepstakes. Parents have until Feb. 6 to post a picture of a child age 4 or under on their personal Facebook page with the hashtag #DiaperDash. Videos or pictures of children crawling are worth bonus points, according to a news release.

“This contest is a great way to celebrate young Future Scholars, and to help remind families that it’s never too early to invest in a child’s education,” Loftis said. “529 plans are a tax-advantaged way to help families save over time for future college expenses. It is my hope that as children continue to grow, so will their college savings accounts in preparation for a very bright academic future.”

The first randomly selected winner be announced on Facebook on Jan. 30. The second will be announced Feb. 7. All entrants must be the parent or guardian of the child, who must be a legal resident of South Carolina age 4 or under at the time of the contest (Jan. 16-Feb. 6).

Participants are limited to one entry and must like the state treasurer’s office official Facebook page to qualify.
