Greenville Technical College and Midlands Technical College are collaborating with the Columbia Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program to provide environmental training for contractors interested in participating in the program.

The collaboration is part of Columbia’s ongoing disaster response from the flood of 2015.

An information session will be held Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. in the main auditorium of MTC. The program will include a discussion of the pre-qualified pool of contractors, specifics of the residential rehab program and local opportunities for training and certification in EPA/HUD lead-based paint criteria.

The training courses are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and the S.C. Department of Environmental Control. The courses will enable participants to become certified as lead renovators, lead abatement supervisors or workers and asbestos abatement supervisors or workers.
