Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp. is partnering with Apprenticeship Carolina to provide nine Nephron employees a chance to earn a Community Pharmacy Technician certificate at Midlands Technical College.

Apprenticeship Carolina is a division of the S.C. Technical College System.

Participants in the program will be able to continue working while receiving free training.

The MTC technician program teaches pharmacy operations under the supervision of registered pharmacists and combines classroom, online and experiential learning.

“We are so thrilled to give our employees the opportunity to go back to school and earn a certification while still working at Nephron,” said Nephron CEO Lou Kennedy in a news release. “We are always excited to partner with our friends at Midlands Tech. This is how we make it happen.”

The five-month program began March 6. Additional employees will be selected to participate in the program in the future.

Funding from the South Carolina Apprenticeship Initiative covers a portion of the MTC course for each student. Nephron is covering all additional costs.
