Maryland Teacher Tutors is expanding its teacher-led program to South Carolina.

The program, founded by CEO and former teacher Natalie Mangrum in 2015, offers one-on-one tutoring, group learning pods and academic coaching with current and former certified teachers. The South Carolina Teacher Tutors branch will be led by Molly Bloom, an educator and Ph.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina.

“Molly was an easy pick to lead our South Carolina program,” Mangrum said in a news release. “She is a natural-born leader with charisma and an unmatched passion for education.”

Maryland Teacher Tutors employs more than 150 tutors serving 500-plus families in the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas, according to the release. Its website says students gain an average of 1.25 grade levels after three quarters of once-a-week tutoring.

Pricing for tutoring sessions vary.

“We are excited to offer the quality of beyond-classroom instruction that South Carolina students deserve during one of the most trying times in our nation’s history,” Bloom said.

South Carolina Teacher Tutors is hiring certified or previously certified state educators.

“The quality and expertise that comes from hiring only certified teachers is the value we bring to students and communities, whether that is in-person or virtually, and that’s what makes our service unique,” Mangrum said.
