ECPI University issuing digital vaccination certificates

ECPI University is issuing digital vaccination certificates to allow quick access to campus facilities for students and staff.

The Vax Pass is issued after proof of vaccination is uploaded to an online portal.

“We have a portal for students to upload their vaccination proof, and that will quickly trigger the issuance of a digital Vax Pass in the university’s mobile app as well as a verifiable certificate on Blockchain,” Jeff Arthur, ECPI University’s chief information officer, said in a news release.

ECPI, with S.C. campuses in Columbia, Greenville and Charleston, has issued more than 2,500 Vax Pass certificates and expects that number to increase to 10,000 over the summer, according to the release. The passes permit speedier movement through campus screening stations as the school anticipates no longer requiring masks.  

“We are also expecting vaccination clinics on campus as supplies permit,” said Barbara Larar, ECPI’s COO. “We have more than 3,000 nursing students, most of whom were required to be vaccinated to participate in required clinical experiences.”
