(Photo/Provided)ECPI University will award more than $55,000 in scholarships across its 14 campuses with nursing programs in celebration of National Nurses Week, which begins May 6.

Each scholarship is worth $2,000, and each campus in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and Texas, as well as online, will have two recipients.

Scholarships are open to aspiring nurses, current ECPI nursing students, and working nurses looking to earn an advanced degree. Applications are being accepted until May 1 online at www.ecpi.edu/heart.

“ECPI University provides hands-on instruction for students working towards their LPN, RN, BSN and MSN, employs educators training the next generation of nurses, and partners with health care employers in need of our graduates,” Barbara Larar, ECPI University COO, said in a news release. “We have a deep level of respect for the nursing field and our place in it.

“After two years of pandemic education and care, we wanted to find a way to say thank you. We hope these scholarships encourage potential or current nurses in the pursuit of their passion or can assist nurses already in the field who want to further their education.”

Applicants must answer the question “How is Nursing a Work of Heart?” as well as submit a photo to be used for Facebook voting.

A selection committee will narrow entries to five finalists per campus, then post those finalists’ essays and photos on ECPI University’s Facebook page for public voting during National Nurses Week (May 6-12). Scholarship winners will be announced during a May 12 thank-you event for nursing program participants to be held on all 14 nursing campuses.
