The S.C. Commerce Department and several partner organizations are hosting a small business lender matchmaker event next Thursday.

The event will give small business owners a chance to connect with potential lenders and will include a lender-led panel discussion, matchmaking session and exhibitor displays. It is scheduled for Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Those interested can register online here. The cost of admission is $35.

“South Carolina's pro-business environment continues to receive high marks, and initiatives like the upcoming lender matchmaker event are a big reason why,” Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said. “Providing our businesses with the resources they need to succeed is critical to the health of our economy and a key component of our economic development efforts.”

Fellow partners include the City of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“We recognize that major corporations like Apple, Amazon, Mattel and Walt Disney all started as small businesses,” Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin said. “We believe that kind of talent exists right here in Columbia and we're going to do everything we can to help those small businesses find the capital investment they need to reach their full potential.”
