The Columbia Chamber honored Gov. Nikki Haley and five other individuals last week at its Annual Gala, which highlighted regional accomplishments over the last fiscal year.
Haley was named the Ambassador of the Year at the 113th annual event, attended by some 700 participants.
“It has been a year of change for the Chamber and the community,” said Carl Blackstone, Columbia Chamber president and CEO. “The Annual Gala gives us an opportunity to thank our partners for their support. Without our partners and sponsors, the Chamber could not achieve these major milestones and that is something worth celebrating.”
Louis Lynn of ENVIRO AgScience, Inc. was named the Chamber’s small and minority business advocate of the year, while Nexsen Pruet’s Tommy Preston was honored with the young professional of the year award.
Bill Bethea of the S.C. Military Base Task Force and retired U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Gen. George Goldsmith were also awarded the Military Advocates of the Year honor. Mike Weaver of the Weaver Agency rounded out the recipients with his diplomat of the year honor.
