Nelson Lindsay, who has been in the role since it was first created in 2011, will become the director of global business in his new Commerce position. He will manage project managers and be responsible for the recruitment of new companies, as well as work with existing ones.

Lindsay, who holds an undergraduate degree from Wofford College and a master’s from the University of South Carolina, had served since 1997 as the economic development director of Kershaw County before moving over to Richland County.

Lindsay started from scratch having to build a staff and put together a gameplan to sell the area as a logical place to local manufacturing plants, distribution facilities and warehousing.

The county has already listed the job posting on its website.
