As a member of the region’s oldest and largest economic development association, Whipple has held numerous leadership positions, including first vice chairman and second vice chairman, state director for South Carolina, and secretary/treasurer.
Whipple, who has been the Lexington County economic development director since 2006, was chosen for the position by peers within the SEDC membership.
"Chuck Whipple is a consummate professional, his experience and leadership will not only help us meet our goals, but also continue our efforts in raising the bar for SEDC and our membership," said Gene Stinson, president of the Atlanta-based organization.
The council is the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America with 1,010 members from 17 states.
