Allendale County leads the state in return on property taxes, a survey by financial technology company SmartAsset found.
To rank the counties, SmartAsset ranked schools and crime rates in relation to the property tax rate. Allendale’s overall index of 84.6 led the state, ahead of Saluda (84.01) and Abbeville (83.03).
Lexington ranked 16th in the state while Richland finished 41st.
