Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin will play host to the city of Columbia Age-Friendly Livability Summit in conjunction with AARP on Oct. 25.

The summit, which will feature interactive breakout sessions led by AARP experts, will take place from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Spirit Communications Park.

“As we look to the future with our Envision Columbia vision statement, creating an increasingly age-friendly city will be a major component of ensuring we become the city we desire to be,” Benjamin said in a news release. “Residents of all ages should feel as if Columbia has the resources and support they need.”

Residents and community leaders are encouraged to discuss how the area can prepare for an aging population as well as make Columbia more livable for all residents.
